Poem #88 for Audrey Dimola

vulnerability

a weakness i wanted to share with you

i do not go far enough

i do not even push that much

when i create

i am always safe

there are words that i don’t dare put together

dances that i never take up a level

then up a level

then up a level

i have never dedicated my life to the studio

i take courageous chances

and i break through further

than i thought possible

for my life

further than any family member has been

but i am scared to really give myself over

completely

to anything

or anyone

In our life,

we’re artists,

everywhere is home,

everyone is family

i take the moments day by day

trying to dare myself off the cliff

i meditate on the words of my mentors

2 possibilities:

A safety net appears

Or you sprout wings and fly

until that time

and certainly long after

you are the energy behind my courage

your absence sets your spirit free

much stronger

much purer

and all encompassing

wherever you are,

and in hopes to see you once again,

you allow me to pick up my chisel

and continue carving away

up one more level

§ One Response to always

  • Anthony says:

This request is for Audrey’s best friend. These are my favorite, because it truly is what this project is about. The two are “riding the current of the universe on separate planets” but, a thought like this reaches across oceans…

THANKS for allowing me to be a medium for your friendship!!!
