forbidden fruit

Poem #170 for Kym Pappas

Is there room in my plan
for a small piece of the forbidden fruit?
Lines of blue flames that are never to be crossed?
Yet would be so enjoyable if they were to be?

To act on a whim,
to hell with responsibility?
Or stop to find guilt
regardless the circumstance?

I already live in a dreamlike mindset
whether aware of it or not
so perhaps the apple, then,
is simply taboo?

How are consequences really decided
if not by the collective majority of individuals?
Which means morality is a commonly shared opinion?

But why do I have to live by rules I do not believe in?
