Poem #66 for Allie Weschta

It’s slipping from my grasp

(inhale exhale try to focus)

The eyes, they hurt

Even the hair hurts

All so exhausting

(sip of coffee, walk, air, more fuel)

Looking for expression;

How to keep drive when arriving at the

completion of a life of goals

Stay in place?  Keep going?

Towards what?

How and what and where and…

All so exhausting

(crack neck, crack fingers, crack back)

(exhale)

Breathe out

(inhale)

Try to focus

My body is changing

Everything seems to be changing

This law of existence has never been different

yet my aged reluctance still resists

(yearn, yawn, wonder)

Inch by inch, deeper the aches seep

Believe in love

Believe in trust

(believe, inhale, believe, exhale)

…can’t hold on much longer

af

(written with pen on paper)
