something higher

Poem #156 for Joanne Ruocco

I have to fight for something higher
something more meaningful than a life
dedicated
to money, security and the latter years

I just have to believe there is another reason
something besides cat-and-mouse playground games;
a purpose higher than accomplishment -
to have architecture representing my existence
rather than energy
seems utterly pointless

My desire is to create
an even, smooth line of balance
rather than a teeter-totter of
positive/negative extremes
a hypochondria breeds resentment of failure
rather than the gratuity of its lessons

It just has to be about something higher

because
spending my life
working for stuff
whether for me or someone else
just does not make sense

needed to get and read this today! if we had a conversation about why i love what you write and how it inspires me or makes me fell better or is the answer to a question i wouldn’t be able to, just know it does…. :)
    thanks!

  • Anthony says:

THANKS!!!! Everything comes from a place what I deem to be common sense. After I get that out, then I see if could help or destroy. That’s really it. Trying to make life as simple as possible because IT IS…Only WE make it complicated because, well, we need to. It makes us feel better, I suppose
