Poem #150 for Joanne Ruocco

This guy is amazing
giving me a smile on my face on a Sunday night:

well-dressed in a dive bar
Persian, polished and tight off his ass
harmonizing in (Arabic) scales effortlessly
seamlessly to hipster-electro-pop-rock
fed-up with everyone thinking he is insane
laughing at them laughing at him
confident in his absurdity that is not very far from wrong
if you really listen to what he is saying
You all need to loosen up…At a bar…Party Party
full of energy, full of life, full of yearning
prowling among the hiding faces
avoiding him with embarrassment for everyone else

What a smile he has given me
with his stubborn passion
as he walks over to me
and I look away…
