what i miss

Poem #214 for Tommy Carney

Normal feelings are what I miss the most,
getting emotions riled for the mundane
the desire for toys and trinkets;
A free simplicity
striving for knowledge
unaware of any real truths of life;
Superficially rewarded for the games played;
Measuring accomplishments tangibly;
Embracing the clear roads ahead
with no thought of the destruction left behind;

But most of all,
now that I know the truth
about humanity,
what I miss is the simple faith in trust.
